While we wandered the world we shared some of the awesome global organizations and causes that we come across and/or volunteered with.  Right now we only have a couple listed but our list is long and we are deciding how to work this integral part of our journey and message into action on our site the best during it’s transformation process.  Our brains are brewing with ideas and we are stumbling across new an innovative ways to Pay It Forward in the world everyday.

Here is a taste test from our 2013 travels to get you started:

Bike Surf Berlin Logo

We stumbled across this program in Berlin and had the opportunity to meet one of the amazing founders. With the modo “Anyone can borrow a bike from us without extortionate rental fees. Two legs good. Free wheels better” this program allows people to borrow bikes for up to one week at a time.

How can you pay it forward:
  • Live or are visiting Berlin? Donate to the cause or volunteer with the organization.  They are always in need of used bikes, bells, lights, and helping hands for the organization. Check out how you can help HERE.
  • Not in Berlin? Share the concept with friends and others in your area.  Get inspired and start a similar program in your area! The team at BikeSurfBerlin has made it easier for you by putting together a ‘How To’ document.  Be sure to let them know if you get a program started.  They soon plan to expand their website to include other places that have decided to implement the same program.

Use-It Maps Logo

USE-IT guides, maps, and websites are made by young locals, are not commercial, free, and up-to-date. There goal is to allow others to break out of the tourist bubble.  USE-IT is a locals perspective on where to go and what to do.  By doing this one has a better chance of meeting local counterparts and discovering the REAL city actively.

How can you pay it forward:
  • Visiting Europe? Check-out the USE-IT Maps website to see if they have local maps or offices for any of the cities you are visiting.  Spread the word to your friends.  By showing up and using the resources you are showing support.
  • Not visiting Europe or already live there? Let this be an inspiration to start a similar program in your own home-town if it doesn’t already exist.  If you are in Europe you can join the USE-IT network.  If not, don’t be discouraged to use their network as an example to start something similar in your corner of the world.  They provide lots of good info HERE.
